Headteacher / SENCO

Mrs J Allen

I came to St Wilfrid's as a young teacher and I loved it so much that I decided to stay! I get very excited when a new child starts our school and I can remember teaching their parent.

I have taught every year group in school and have enjoyed all of them, as they each bring different challenges and rewards. My favourite subject is maths and I hope that every child at St Wilfrid's will say, "I love maths!"

Teaching Staff

Class 5

Mrs V Lawson

My first life involved a degree in Geography followed by a PhD in Hydrology before teaching A' level and degree Geography in a Further and Higher Education College.

After having my four children I completed a PGCE in Primary Education. Since qualification I have taught at St Wilfrid's and have enjoyed teaching in every year group throughout school. I am currently one of two teachers in Class 5 teaching years 5 and 6

Outside school I love spending time with my family on our small holding. Our menagerie consists of a small flock of sheep, some goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, turtles, hamsters and last, but not least a collie dog. I also love reading and camping.

Class 4

Miss K Abbott

I completed my degree in Primary Education with an English Specialism at Edge Hill University just outside of Liverpool. I have been fortunate to work in a range of schools in the Yorkshire area and across the Key Stages.

Outside of school I like to try new things and go on adventures. Before starting St. Wilfrid's I spent time travelling and I loved seeing different countries and experiencing a variety of cultures and customs.

I joined St. Wilfrid's in September 2017 and I am really enjoying my time at such a wonderful school.

Class 3

Mrs A Hakes

Deputy Headteacher

I completed a degree in History and Primary Education at Leeds Trinity and All Saints University. Following this, I then worked in a number of schools across Leeds and Harrogate.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to the theatre and trying new things. In the past this has included skydiving, ballroom dancing and running and last year I completed the Great North Run.

I became Deputy Head at St. Wilfrid’s School in September 2016 and I feel privileged and excited to be a member of the St. Wilfrid’s community.

Class 2

Mrs C Thorpe

I studied a degree in Primary Education with a French specialism at Leeds Metropolitan University. I also attained a Postgraduate Certificate with a focus on Early Years Education. I have worked across all Key Stages throughout my training and career and I am privileged to have had the opportunity to spend short periods of time teaching in Poland and France.

Outside of school, I have two young children who keep me busy! I enjoy being outdoors and feel very lucky to have places like Fountains Abbey right on my doorstep to help keep me and my family fit and active.

I joined St. Wilfrid's in September 2016 and I am really enjoying my time here. I feel lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive team and such enthusiastic children.

(HLTA)

I have been lucky enough to be part of the St.Wilfrid's School community for five years. Prior to coming here, I had a background working with autistic children. I also have a degree in Sociology.

I started St. Wilfrid's as a TA when my children joined the Foundation Unit. In 2016, I qualified as a HLTA and this means that as well as supporting classes and running interventions, I can cover short term teacher absence.

The staff are a supportive team here at St.Wilfrid's and it is a joy to see the progress children make here on their journey through the school.

I enjoy cooking and relaxing at home.

Mrs E Barrett

I live in Ripon and my two daughters came to St. Wilfrid's School and enjoyed it very much. I also attended St. Wilfrid's as a child and I returned in 1996 to work as a teaching assistant.

I have worked in all of the classes and it has been a privilege to work with so many children and staff.

Mrs A Bingham

My three children all came to St. Wilfrid's School. I learnt very quickly what a nurturing, caring and special school it is, not only academically but I think most importantly for the caring nature.

So when, ten years ago I came to work here, I very quickly became part of that caring community/family.

I love seeing the triumphs, however big or small. I also love the relationship I feel that I have with the children I work with. It's so nice to see how far they can go and to watch their confidence blossom.

Miss R Scott

Mrs A Webber

We moved to Ripon as a family in 2012. My two daughters completed their primary education at St Wilfrid’s and I started working here in 2013.

Education is important to me and I enjoy supporting your children to get the most out of our school.

I have the relevant qualifications for the job and I bring enthusiasm and a smile with me to school daily.

The team at St Wilfrid’s school work hard to help your children achieve to their fullest potential and I am proud to be a small part of that team.

Mrs T Jones

I arrived at St. Wilfrid's in 2005 and ever since I have enjoyed producing a fresh, healthy and nutritious meal every day for the children.

In 2007 Mrs Gordon and I became finalists in the Local Authority Catering Team of The Year. This is one of our proudest achievements at S. Wilfrids.

In my spare time I love to walk and I always have my nose in a book!

Mrs A Gordon

I have been working in the kitchen since 2005. I enjoy working here so much that I'm still here 13 years later.
